Where this perspective comes from
The work is informed by years spent inside newsrooms, alongside platforms, and occasionally against both.
Before Venn, Tarquin spent six years contributing to digital newsrooms where the gap between editorial intent and platform incentive was something you felt daily - in headline rewrites, in traffic dashboards, in the stories that quietly got killed.
That experience shapes everything here. The writing at Venn doesn't pretend neutrality is possible, or that objectivity and honesty are the same thing. Opinion is declared upfront, arguments are built from evidence, and readers are expected to push back.
The Venn virtual space exists because web journalism is a subject that rarely gets examined by the people producing it. This is an attempt to change that - one argument at a time.
What this publication actually covers
"The most interesting journalism about the web isn't being written by people who love the web. It's being written by people who are genuinely unsure about it."
- Tarquin Vael, Venn
